My uncompressed avi on the same timeline that i was working has suddenly started stuttering. I was working on this project that has one 60 min uncompressed 24 bit avi on the timeline. Havent even started workng with it. Its just loaded onto the timeline. I was reviewing the video on the timeline before starting to cut. But now i opened my project today and found that the playback is skipping in the preview. Very very minor skipping. Like during smooth pans it pauses at equal intervals like 2 sec smooth. 1 millisec of a pause, 1 sec smooth and so on. Its an important project. But i did move the video from drive 3 to drive 2. (I have 3 seperate drives). There is no adible skip in the sound. This is a very minor repeat interval pausing of the video. Only editors like us may notice. But then .....how will i be able to work on my project if its like this ?

Its a 250 gb drive. I had about 20 gb of files on it. Thats it. The video that is stuttering was loaded on that drive and its size is 83 gb. 24 bit RGB uncompressed. Totally we have not even exceeded 50%. Also noticed some funny things. I tried the preview at 'preview-half' mode. It plays smooth. Then starts stuttering at a particular place. Then if i use the JKL keys and hit J to backward play and then hit L to forward play that stuttering portion the stutter is gone for that area. Its like every place that stutters i need to shuttle backwards n then return to play and the same section that stuttered a moment ago plays smooth. On a second thought. I did a disk defrag about a week back. Could this create a prob ? But even if its a hard disk thing, the avi in question plays super smooth on windows media player. Its suttering in Vegas though. ??
