Preview Monitor Help

So I bought a Sony Trinitron preview monitor and have it hooked up to my Mac Pro. I have an S-Video cable hooked up to a S Video to DVI adapter into my Mac Pro. I've tried all sorts of settings in the View drop down menu in FCP. All the monitor says is "LINE A"(the channel the S-Video is plugged into) and "NO SYNC". Would anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Don't know if this will fix it, but go into System Preferences, then Displays. You'll probably need to click the "Gather Windows" button to move window for you Sony onto your primary monitor. Then, select the appropriate resolution. That might make the signal work on your Sony. If it does, then rock on, if not, then I am out of solutions that do not require a separate video card.

If the Sony is able to receive a signal, in FCP go to View > Video Playback and select your Sony. Then under View > External Video and select All Frames. If you have to, also select Refresh A/V Devices under View > External Video.

Good luck!

I've done all of those and nothing seems to be working at all. Any other suggestions?
