Are you using a firestore?

Capturing in raw DV on the firestore does not maintain the flags that mark the "disposable" frames. If you import the raw DV files over from the FS (we don't capture, we drag and drop the files), and try to use FC to remove the advanced pulldown, it gives an error saying it doesnt find any clips with an advanced pulldown to remove. The only way it works is if you capture in QT on the firestore.

Can you not capture "raw DV" on the Firestore? I understand what you're saying...seems odd that Blackmagic hadn't/wouldn't have thought of this. Either way, there are a lot of benefits of having the card, mainly true output of your video signal, and I'm sure there is a way around this without using the render solution. Maybe Barry can chime in, I'm sure he would have some sort of suggestion.

Actually the guy at blackmagic I talked to had no idea about the DVX 24pa mode, but I would agree that you would think they would have addressed this.

Well, according to Ryan's tests, it looks like with the Firestore in QT N mode and the DVX in 24P ADV (F6) mode you should get a QT with the flags that can be removed via advanced pulldown in FCP therefore allowing you to playback in realtime through your Decklink card.

You would think that, but unfortunately it's not the case. Yes, it plays back without render natively, thats why we have been using that setting, but now if you select the suggested easy setup for use with the decklink, it requires a render.
