so nobody is watching their footage on a pro crt television monitor?
Those are pretty much extinct nowadays. I've got an HD CRT TV, but I don't know anyone else who does. In HD, it's all plasma and LCD and DLP. CRTs were dominant in SDTV, but in HDTV they're a non-issue.

26" HDTV LCD.

If you want a crt for the blacks and contrasr ratio, the samsung slim fits might be good. they accept HDMI and that can accept a DVI adapted signal. Only arround 450 bucks i think

G'day Barry. I've got a Samsung 76cm (29") CRT model WS-32Z6-HR. It inputs (component) standard def progressive or 1080i HD. While on the subject...to view the HVX 1080 25p component output, as it's coming out at 1080i 50, is this monitor ok for the job, or would a 1080 progressive be better suited?

Thanks

Any 1080 monitor is appropriate. Progressive would be better for progressive under most circumstances, but because the HVX's progressive is transmitted in an interlaced stream I doubt it's going to make much of a difference.

That's kind of what I thought.

When you switch the output setting on the HVX component between SD and HD while connect to the set through the component in, the difference in colour and sharpness is huge.
