Pretty random question

This isn't concretely about directing but i'm the director of the movie so i thought i might post this here

I'm currently in the pre-production stage of my mockumentary. The mockumentary involves many people wearing toilet seats around their neck.

1.I need to buy LOTS of toilet seats (30-50) really cheap. Where should i go?

2.I need extras. Where should i go?
 
toilet seats - maybe an industrial salvage yard? Never looked for a cheap toilet seat...

extras - college campus? are these paid or unpaid? do they have to wear the toilet seats?

Dude, if you tried to hang a used toilet seat around my neck from a 'salvage yard', I would probably kick your ass.

dude I wasnt going to tell you it was from a salvage yard! :) You'll also note that I didnt volunteer to be an extra... Yeah so maybe scrap the salvage yard unless they look exceptionally clean and not ummm used...
 
Cant you buy big pieces of white foam and cut them to look like toilet seats? You can spray paint them different colors or decorate them to make them look nasty.

I'm not sure how many volunteers will do anything but sit on a used toilet seat.
 
Plastic toilet seats can be bought at homedepot for about $5-6. $300 should get you what you need.

yeah, as for the extras, good luck, i dont know too many people that want Toilet Seat Women #7 on there resume. and yes, people put being an extra on there resume. haha

on a side note: I edited a reel for a cruddy actor that wanted me to put footage of him when he was a contestent on hollywood sqaures on his acting reel...
 
ok heres the poop on extras, they will come flowing out to be in this, many wannabe actors would **** their pants to be in this, just so they have something that shows they are willing to put up with being crapped on, so they can relax and ease their way into new gigs, after so many years of pushing and pushing and just getting little plops, having something like this might show their lax nature, I mean if you swollow your pride, and flush away your dignity, all thats left floating it your talent, and if that doesn't stink, then new jobs will..

If you need that many seats, you might be able to buy them by the case, for even less than you could at Home Depot or Wal Mart. It will just take a bit of legwork on your part, trying to find a vender. Or... you could send 30 people into Wal Mart to buy one seat each, then return them the next day, saying they didn't fit right.
 
oh yes the great toilet seat famon of two double ot seven, I remeber it well, I needed a new toilet seat so I went to walmart, and they were all sold out, so I went to the home depot, and they were all sold out, so I went to lowels, then payless, then target, and i'll be gosh darned if there wasn't a toilet seat to be found in the entire city. it seams as if all at once, everyone needed a new toilet seat. it got to where toilet seats where selling on the black market for 5 or 6 times more than they sold for in the stores. gangs and drug deallers, quickly snatched up all the toilet seats they could find, they'd break into the homes of the people who had toilet seats, and either still them to resell them, or break them to force the owner to buy a new one, knowing they had the toilet seat market cornered, it was a black eye on the history of America I tell ya, a black eye!!!

i would but they dont have too many wal-marts in LA
 
one problem will solve the other - when you advertise for extras, specify that they need to bring their own toilet seat to wear. Seriously. It's just the kind of bizarre touch that will give you great publicity and word-of-mouth advertising - at least amongst the kind of people who'd actually like to be filmed wearing a toilet seat...
 
no you can get the seat there and at walmart 5 or 6 bucks even if you just buy one. hell an entire toilet can be had for 50 bucks. I just bought two seats for the throwns in my apartment for 6 bucks each at wal-mart.
