premiers realtime capabilities...

hey.

i just gave my friend some upside down SD DV 25p footage. and his juiced up quadcore can't seem to play it back in realtime with the flipV and flipH filter... it plays, but it's all blurry and crap looking. HELP?!?!?

i think he has CS3

my old broken G4 1.2ghz laptop with 768mb ram can play back DV flipandfloped real time no worries in FCP.

also i gave my other friend with premier some flipped HDV footage. and he can't play it back realtime either.... but my school's intel imacs can. and they have worse specs than his PC.... wtf??!?!?!

is there some setting they don't know about like realtime playback in FCP? or is this just a huge issue with premier? has it been fixed in CS4?

the reason i ask is to help my friends. and i want to get a PC to replace my sh*t mac. but i shoot with an adapter ALL THE TIME!>! help?

He's probably got the quality setting on the preview set low.

PP CS3 rocks for RT previews. He should be able to play several layer with a mere 3.0 GHZ Pentium D in high quality. I have a cheesy Pentium D and an Nvidia 7600. With CS3 I could out put DV-25 to an NTSC monitor using the S-Video out. My FCP friend was jelous. He uses dual computer monitors but FCP can not just out put the overlay of the program monitor to the NTSC monitor like Premiere and Vegas. CS4 does not get the same amount fo RT as CS 3 using and NTSC monitor and you have to tweak out the video card to make Premiere Pro rock. Also Vista works better than XP.
