Premiere won't export

I have had this issue happen with 2 different projects in the past week. One was a 720x480 standard def 30 second spot. This new project is a 720p 4 minute slide video with no audio.
The export in Premiere either exports but cuts the export short. Or it exports and I get an error in Premiere saying that the export failed 'unknown error'. Then I export in Encoder and it freezes in Encoder after a certain point and won't export the whole file. Please help, I have just switched to Premiere from FCP 6. This is driving me nuts.

First thing to check is to make sure all of your graphics (stills) are good. You could have one that is "corrupt". Start by looking at those closest to where it halts. I'd generate new versions of those images, delete the old, import the new, and drop them on the timeline.

Also try clearing the temporary folder and make sure you have enough space on your target drive.

If it still doesn't work, try sending it to queue, shutting down Premiere, then starting the queue.

Also watch your system resources for oddities while exporting. If you can't figure it out from those things you can try reinstalling Premiere, clearing any temporary files in between installations, and see if it makes a difference.

I have changed the order of the shots as it is a slide show and it doesn't matter 100% all of the order. And every time during the export it freezes in the same spot in Encoder. Doesn't matter the graphics, just for some reason it freezes at the same frame no matter what graphic I have in that frame.

Shut down every program running, including Premiere, and open Adobe Encoder. Hit the "Add..." button and select you project. It will take a moment as it reads the sequences. Select the one you want to encode. When it loads into the encoder window, hit the preset dropdown arrow to input your settings.

As it is encoding, have a look at your activity monitor. Is anything maxed out? It shouldn't be with your system specs.
