Is there a tutorial anywere on Premiere 1.5 with 24fps?
I'm confused about project types and when Premiere is performing pull-down and pull-up and a few other things.
I shot recently in 24P (not advanced), and my understanding is that when it hits the tape pull-up is already done and it is basically like any 30p or 60i stream and can be input using an NTSC project and edited on a 29.97 timeline. Is that correct?
And then the "Panasonic 24P" project in Premiere is really "pull-down on capture", intended only for 24P Advanced. And if I capture 24P or 30P or 60i in that project type it will perform pull-down randomly and make jerky unusable clips. Is that correct or does it do something else?
If I have 24P or 24P Advanced on a 24-drop timeline and want to perform pull-up and output a 29.97 NTSC stream, what do I do? Do I have to output the project to an AVI and then start a new NTSC project, then import the footage into a 29.97 sequence ? If it is 24P (not advanced) in a Panasonic-24P project, can I just output at 29.97?
Is it true that in Premiere you should always work in original clips and nested sequences, and that the only way to render out at full quality is to render uncomressed?
If I need to render out an edited clip for use in After Effects, should I render uncompressed or is there a different compressor I should use? Is the Microsoft DV compressor good for intermediate work (exporting and re-importing) or is another compressor better for this job, or is uncompressed the only way to go without losing quality?
Thanks for your help!
