Premiere Sharpen Filter...

Hi all

I use a lense convertor and the results are great, although things are a tad blur. To compensate this I fire on the sharpen filter in Premiere (Pro 1.5). In the preview window it looks amazing. When I export an uncompressed 'web size' file (300x170) it looks ok but it has some degradating effects - like lines around a subject agains white light...this seems to happen regardless of the format (mov, avi etc). When it goes on DVD there are certain parts that look really terrible....lines across a subject body n stuff. This seems to happen if I set the filter at 10% or 50%.

I wonder if any of you guys could help me out with some advice on this? Maybe a better export setting for the clip (I've tried loads) or a different filter to use?

I'm using a TRV950 on 16:9. Any help very much appreciated.

Thanx

Doonae,
A sharpen filter cannot correct a blurry image. At certain scales it may give the appearance of sharpeness but at other scales it won't. The lines you see around a subject against white light comes from the electronic sharpening the camera does. The sharpening filter is only accentuating it. The electronic widescreen mode tends to give a slight blur as well.

Lens converters for small camcorders are not of the highest optical precision. They can't be for the price they have to sell them at. I started out with a Sony handycam myself and bought a $60 Sony WA converter. The results were OK but not great. I later bought the $140 Sony WA model and it was much better; at least equal to camera's lens itself. So price does matter. I now use a DVX with a Century .6 adapter is the results are significantly better... but at 3-4x the cost.
