Premiere running SLOOOOW on my 2015 iMac

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I'm running Adobe CC on my 2015 iMac with 32GB RAM, 1TB internal SSD, 4 GHz Intel Core i7, and AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB.

My internal SSD is nearly full with video footage. I'm working on a 25 hour multicam project and Premiere is dragging at a painfully slow pace. Should my video files be on a separate SSD? This can't be normal for large projects.

Anything else I can do?
Thanks,
Andrew

sounds like same computer set up I use. questions I would ask:
- are you editing 4k files?
- would a separate drive, with plenty of room, maybe less fragmented, not run faster than an almost full internal drive?
- are you running time machine in automatic backup mode?
- are you connected to a network server?

Thanks for the reply. No, these are 1080 files.
I was thinking the same thing about the separate drive.
No, I am not running Time Machine. Should I be? I actually know very little about it.
Not on a network server...I'm on a home Wifi Comcast connection shared by a few other users, but nothing else.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks again,
Andrew

Using an external/scratch drive for media has always been recommended. Your only drive sounds full and they say drives pretty much stop working/start failing around 90% capacity. Separate the I/O on a fast SSD via eSATA/USB 2.0/TB 2 and you should notice a difference. Can't imagine your specs are the issue (or anything else), especially with 1080p files.

And if that doesn't work, try resetting the software, reinstalling the software, or looking into RAID configurations.
