OK I'm no expert so bare with m with this.
I read somewhere that you can upload your HD footage, downscaling to SD as you do then edit in SD and then connect your camera with the HD master tape and output a HD version of your edit. Is this true and if so how can I do this?

Thanks.

You would downconvert the footage in-camera to SD, edit as normal, then create another directory with HD files that are named exactly the same as their SD equivalent, then off-line the SD source files and relink the HD footage in their place.

OK I think I get you. so would I have had to have made the first SD edit in a HD project?

Yes, or an SD project and copy and paste the timeline over to an HD one. The key is the SD conversion format; presumably it would be easier to work with and be identical to the original HD source.
