Premiere Pro detect unexpected error, crashes

Yeah prem generally crashes when im working with a footage, but more seriously, welcome to the fourm, to help you solve this issue and future issues its a good idea to post the circumstances of the crash. what you were doing, what footage you were cuttting, system spec and Prem version, it could be anything .........

hi :)

hi :)

Before, the same problem occurred until I reformatted my computer (I noticed that my HDD was almost full. After reformatting with 90% free space it worked fine. Now with 46GB of 111GB free, it keeps crashing. The program is stable when I don't do anything, but when I double click on a clip to play, it crashes.

I'd like to try to help you but we need more information. In addition to the info phantomvideo requests, I recommend considering what changes you made to your computer between the time it did not crash and the time it started. Did you install a media player? Codecs? Based on the limited number of details here, I would hazard the guess that it's a codec issue. Can you perform a system restore back to the date there were no problems?

Recently I have had this problem, every time work with a footage, PP crashes. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks.

Are you unplugging the computer?

Are you still working on a 386 computer?

Did you remove the cooling fan from the processor?

I hear this can cause the issue you describe

thanks

thanks

I did get the community codec, i'll uninstall those and do a system restore to see if ti works, thanks guys.
edit: AC3 filter also and my system restore date only goes back a week
edit: Nope, still unexpectedly quits :(

XP 32bit SP2

Core2 DUO 3ghz
4gb Ram
320gb System drive
1tb working raid

and include any other realvant information, the type of footage you were cutting(sony, pana, DV, HDV) is all very important, and even specifiy what made the NLE crash)

Premiere Pro CS4 vs 4.0.0
Vista 32bit
3.2gig RAM
111GB harddrive

Basically the program works until I double click on a video in the project workspace. I'm using the "bear" sample video that comes with microsoft. Once I double click on that, it crashes.
Recently when I launch Premiere, my workspace is completely blank. I tried playing just plain audio (no video) and it still crashes.
Edit: When I double click on the sequence 01, it crashes also.
Updated to 4.0.1, workspace now loads initially.
Edit: I also have ffdshow video/audio codec

ok so, the sample video from MS is probably not ideal to benchmark a Prem Workstation, these aren't editing codec's some will work some may not, its often import to confirm some clips to an editing standard codec before adding to prem, this will iprove stablitiy and ensure a productive and pleasant editing experience
