OK I'm at my wits end here, and have been able to get absolutely zero help out of Adobe (their support site is like a labyrinth and keeps leading me into looping dead links, and their support forums won't recognise me as being signed in even though I am).
I've had the CS 5.5 Production Premium Bundle installed for a few days now, and have successfully edited and exported a few DSLR clips. But today I returned to work on my old WW2 movie that's 5+ years in the making and it's crashing left right and center.
I can open and edit and export my CS4 project files and did as such this morning. I did this to have some clips to cut together for a trailer I was planning on making today. The project's dimensions are 720x306 at 25fps. I've tried exporting as quicktime, avi, and mp4, each with a few different codecs and every single time I try to edit with them this happens:
1. load the 2 clips (both around 5 minutes long) into the bin along with the 1 music track (in mp3 format)
2. place the mp3 on the timeline
3. open one clip in the monitor and set the in/out points
4. drag only the video to the timeline
5. adjust clip on timeline and add some keyframes for the opacity
6. rinse and repeat for as long as i can before a crash
I've had premiere crash at every stage of that process, and it's never consistent, sometimes I'll be able to go for 5 minutes without a crash, sometimes it's a mere 15 seconds (or less) into the process , sometimes even just scrubbing through the timeline crashes it.
And this is only happening with these small low res files, it works perfectly fine (touch wood) with with my full HD dslr files.
Could it be as simple as premiere freaking out because I have a project with 720x306 dimensions? CS4 had no issue with it...
My Laptop's Specs
Intel Core2Duo P8700 2.53gHz
4GB RAM
64-bit WIndows 7 Home Premium (clean install 2 weeks ago, SP1 installed)
ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4500 series with latest drivers
I'm really at a loss as to what's causing the crashes, so if anyone can help, please do...
