Premiere Pro CS 5 and Ninja troubles. Please Help!

Hey there DVX users, I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this is a moronic question:

I am trying to edit a ProRes QT file that came directly off the Ninja in Premiere CS 5.0.3 and I keep getting this error: "Unsupported format or damaged file" when I try to import it. The file plays back fine in Quicktime (latest version for Windows 7.6.9) but I can't seem to get it into Premiere to cut it up. Anyone have any luck with this? I also tried this on a Mac running Premiere CS 5.0 and received the same error, so it does not seem to be an operating system issue.

Ninja Firmware 1.04
Premiere CS 5.0.3 (and Premiere CS 5.0 on Mac)
Windows 7 x64 (and OS X 10.5.8)
Quicktime Pro 7.6.9 (same for Mac)

Confused, lost, stumped and hosed.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Zack,

Is this just a single file or have you tried others from the Ninja? I have Premiere CS5 on my Mac and Ninja ProRes files work fine with it. Does the Mac have FCP running on it? Can you play the file in that?

Are you running the latest firmware, 1.04?

If you can't get any files to play, or if you have any other concerns can you please contact us at support@atomos.com and we'll look into it.

Thanks

Hey Dave,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have tried a variety of different files and have gotten the same results with all of them. I am running the latest firmware 1.04 on the Ninja. I do not have FCP installed on the MacBook so I can't try opening the files with that. Again, they all open fine in Quicktime Player, but crap out trying to import them into Premiere Pro on both the Mac and the PC. I sent an email to support at atomos dot com this morning about my troubles, haven't heard anything back yet.

I'm trying a fresh install of EVERYTHING on one of my windows boxes. Not really sure what else to do.

Stuck.

I've just been through all the support emails and I can't see yours. Can you PM me with your details (including email etc) and I'll get back to you?

Thanks

Did this ever get resolved? I have HOURS of Ninja footage that Premiere CS5.5 and After Effects CS5.5 are refusing to import due to "unsupported format or damaged file" -- but the same files play back perfectly in Quicktime Player and Final Cut Pro. Mac OSX 10.6.8.

I don't work for Atomos any more but the last thing I heard from the nice people at Adobe before I left was that they have fixed this issue and that if you download the latest Premiere update from them you should find it all works fine.

Hey Dave, nice to see you posting here :)

I'd like to add my 2cents to this topic saying that the problem may be solved deactivating either the HDMI audio channels or the line input on the Ninja. Both are activated by default on the recorder and Premiere doesn't like it when injesting files.

Hope this helps,
Diego
