Premiere Pro captures?

So I'm using the trial of FCPX and I'm trying to import video I captured with Premiere Pro CS5 on a PC at work. The footage is HDV and the file extension is mpeg. FCPX will not let me select the file when trying to import. Is there another way around this or does FCPX not accept mpeg footage at all?

It needs to be QT movie files unless it's off of a camera card or tape. Use Compressor to convert it all to ProRes 422. Mpeg is not the best format for editing.

I'm kind of surprised it doesn't let me select it and convert it to ProRes upon import.

The Premiere to FCP X workflow is not really supported- you would need to start with the camera originals to get the best results or transcode before bringing over to X.

Mpeg Streamclip should be able to convert it for you.
