Premiere Pro 2 Not Installing ?

Seem to be having a strange problem with Premiere Pro 2. I've tried to install it and nothing happens.
I've checked in Task Manager and there's no process which is related to the installer.

It gets as far as keying in the serial number (which appears to be accepted), accepting the EULA etc, and then that's it. It never actually does anything else. I've tried several times, both on this computer and the editing one. Both meet the requirements.

In addition, I even tried to install the free trial version but again, installation never happens.

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening, or possible solutions ?
 
Intel P4.

The older version, (Premiere Pro 1.5) installs no problem.

The editing computer I also tried to install it on is an AMD 3000 (socket 939) with loads of RAM.
 
I had that problem installing it on Vista - but I just copied the files off of the CD, then ran them from that directory and it worked. Not sure what it's issue was, but might be worth a shot.
