Premiere, PC vs. Mac

It still runs a little better in Windows, and with more external preview options and a bigger selection of supported video cards.

P.C. - Mac uses abstractions layers like Quarts and RT, while Directshow/DirectX on PC allows faster access to hardware Premire is working with, your GFX card.
Also OSX is based on scheduled nicer kernel while NT is based on RTOS so maxing out the cpu to 100% during intense tasks is not a huge problem in NT5.0 kernel based machines.

As of CS4 their thread model for multi-core intel CPU's has also been revamped and nicer, the bloated grey video game interface is also more responsive with less overhead optimized compiled for NT5.0 systems better, including x64/IA-64 windows based machines.

Also most Premire customers run this product on PC, if they use OSX they typically go the FCP/Avid route. Same cannot be said for After Effects.

As far as functionality goes, they are neck and neck, WMV export doesnt come with Mac though. As for stability, I have to say I have no noticed any difference in terms of stability between the two platforms in using CS4 or Beta testing CS5 they are pretty much neck and neck. Running it under Mac however does give you the option of having FCP on the system as well to allow you to deal with clients who have aFCP timeline so you can export it out to Prem. As for hardware support, correct there are only two cards that are supported under OSX but one of them is the GTX 285 which seems to be the card of choice at the moment, as for video IO support, BlackMagic are almost there with there Mac drivers and then you will have a cost effective IO route that uses the Mercury Playback acceleration with a GTX 285 to give you RT effects in true HD with full HD monitoring to SDI, HDMI and Analog.

Word on the street is that the Windows versions of CS3 and CS4 had an edge over the Mac versions but Adobe have addressed that in CS5 by rewriting it in the native 64 bit Cocoa architecture.
