Premiere October Update Delayed?

I was really looking forward to trying out the CinemaDNG support in the October Premiere update. Adobe originally said that it was going to be out on the 15th but they've quietly removed that from their press release and the 15th has came and went. Anyone know what's going on with that?

Better giving them a little bit more time to get it right then having a bunch of features that do not work properly.

It would be better if companies gave dates that were realistic and manageable. That said, I only saw October noted for updates to PP and SpeedGrade, so on my timeline they still have a couple of weeks.

The thing about the cloud based service is that they don't have as strong an incentive to deliver. You keep paying whether they have updates or not.

Yeah, I saw the 15th too and noticed that it disappeared. I wonder if they're now waiting to see what Apple has up their sleeve next Tuesday?

Nvm, apparently the delay has something to do with the hacking attempt on Adobe two weeks ago. Probably they want to add more security before releasing it. Here's a video I found which gives a useful overview of the new features

So based on your point...what reason were they more incentivised pre Cloud Versions and what payment difference does it make practically to a user?
You may not have noticed that we have already had more updates in less than 6 months and a major one on the near horizon. Makes your point kind of lame!

A seller has more incentive to improve a product and make significant new releases when they don't get revenue unless the do so. With the cloud, they get their monthly payment whether they improve the product or not.

Companies run on quarterly earnings. Driving home revenue on a timely basis is a big thing. So getting a release out that has a lot of value, that sells well, is an incentive. But if they have you captured as a customer for monthly payments, delaying releases is not nearly as critical. Sure, there is competition that makes them need to keep up. But customers don't switch that easily. There isn't that much competition for editing systems - especially such a complete suite as the Adobe suite.

A plus for the customers with a cloud based system is that it may actually improve the revenue stream and give the vendor more steady and predictable capital to do development.

I don't have an opinion about Adobe's service. I was making a general observation about cloud service vs selling releases. Huy Vu's point is more likely the case here.

Paul, your point is entirely belied by the fact that Adobe will have made two feature updates in the six months following the release of Premiere Pro CC, whereas with the perpetual license, it would have taken 12 to 18 months to get those new features.
