Premiere export problem

So I produced a feature in FCP and managed to get it exported a few months ago, right before FCP decided not to export anything . I took that opportunity to move to a new iMac and Premiere CC. For short projects it's working great and much faster- but we just got distribution and the distributor wants their 10 second animation added to the beginning of the film. Easy right? Well, I dropped the 52GB 1080P Prores file in the timeline, added the 10 second clip and tried to export. The exported movie looks fine but is scaled down, like from 1080 to 720, doesn't fill the frame as it should. No amount of fooling with sequence preferences or export settings solves the problem. Sequence settings are of course set for Prores 1080 as are export settings. Any ideas?

The most likely cause here is operator error. Premiere Pro only does what you tell it to do. So...let's check each step of the process.

What is the resolution of the file you're importing into PP? Don't post from memory, actually look. Use something like VLC to check this.

What are the sequence settings you've dropped the clip into? Again, actually check those in PP.

Report those and we'll go from there.

That's one possible method, but it may not be the best. Match Sequence Settings is sort of a 'big button' feature designed for those who don't really know what they're doing. It's probably better to know what you're doing and set up the export manually.

On a positive note, that 'solution' confirms that the original problem was operator error. You chose the wrong settings. You may want to check those over and redo the export without the Match box being checked, because it can sometimes do things you don't want it to do as well.

Most of the time Match sequence settings also uses the Preview codec which is of lesser quality.
This feature comes in handy when you want a file for review and not concerned with quality.
