Premiere CS5 Eats Red 4k Footage for Breakfast

I'm currently working on this film where I'm ingesting Red Raw 4k footage into Adobe Premiere CS5 and I'm happy to report that Premiere has worked like a champ. No transcoding at all, and it plays fine with the playback resolution set to 1/4. I've even thrown a Colorista 2 filter on some footage and it still plays fine. Bogs down at three layers of footage, but two generally works if you don't push it. I've even got some rudimentary sound design work going on.

Running on a Sony VAIO with a Core i7, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA 330m (with the hack to make the Mercury Engine work on it) and the Hybrid SSD drive from Seagate. Windows 7 64-bit. The footage is streaming from a FireWire 800 drive to an ExpressCard adapter.

Just wanted to share.

Right now RED is looking at about $6,000 for the fixed lens model. But who knows how accurate that will be. Originally it was slated for about $3,500.
