premiere cs5.5 will only import 2 minutes of nine minute clip. WHY?

I'm working with a 9 minute hdv clip (1440x1080) which is an avi. Every time I try to import it in to my project only 2 minutes of the clip shows up in the bin. I tried converting to h264, and mpeg2 with no luck. Anyone ever have this issue? and if you did , how did you fix it?

Oh, when I play the clip in windows media player, it's fine the entire clip is there. I,m in a pinch, so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

hdv cannot be avi so it must be something else.
Run the file through Mediainfo and see which codec it uses.

i'm sorry, I was exhausted last night when I made the thread. It was hdv, I captured with cineform, which converted it to an avi file. Just wondering if there's something weird with cineform codec. the strange thing is every other clip imports into premiere fine, and the correct size.
