I have CS3 and output it to flash FLV, but I could not play it nor when I upload it to my site, it still will not play. Adobe said the flash player is in most of today computer. I try it on XP and Vista, no go. I am new at this kind of thing, do I need to convert it to swf somehow? Quick Time and Microsoft Player works great.

FLV needs a flash player [Flash Video Player] or you need to have a codec that can "read" flash video.
Real Player is free and it can play flv files. K-Lite Codec Pack is also free and they have a player that can handle flv.

SWF can be played with just about any browser that as the Flash Player add-on but Flash video is a different animal.
You have to have the Flash Player browser add-on for SWF but the web designer has to have a Flash video player in the design of the website for FLV.

Also keep in mind that you can convert FLV to SWF but SWF has a limit of 16,000 frames so any video playing at 24fps or 30fps is going to be short. About 11 minutes at 24fps and around 8 minutes at 30fps if my math skills are up to date

Also SWF has an issue [I should say - it can have issues] with audio and video sync and can make your video look like a badly dubbed movie.

Hidef1080,

Thanks, it seems that it is a lot of trouble to be able to play flash, since Quick Time and Microsoft Video is so much easier.

No.
Not really.
It's just like outputting to any other format and just like you need to have various codecs to play different formats, Flash video needs its own.

Also you have to think about why you want a format and what benefits you gain.

There are things that you can do with Flash video that you cannot do with other formats.

However in the end you must use what works best for you.:)

I use Flash video for websites and interactive CD's and PDF's but I also use HD formats and Windows Media formats at different times so it's just one more tool in your belt!
