Premiere CS3 + HVX200

I know there's other threads on minimum requirements for a PC, etc....but I'm more concerned with optimal setup...

Here are my thoughts on the system:

SATA2 Hard Drive primary (for OS)
RAID (firewire, Gb Ethernet, or eSATA, depends on availability) Array for primary
512MB Graphics (dual DVI out)
2GB RAM (will get 4GB once i get on a Windows 64bit system)
CS3 Master Suite
Firewire 400/800 card

Is that enough to work comfortably on P2 files? I don't want to be sluggish if at all helped. Out of that configuration, what can be changed for better optimization?

Premiere is able to use quads, but in real life only a view processes realy do it.
You will be happyer with a the fastest dualcore than with a slower quad.

Intel is faster in video work / AMD is better for rendering 3D (raw flowpoint power).

you mention nothing of CPU, but get a Q6600 quadcore and that will do with the rest of the set up.

Eek...sorry about that. Right now it's running a dual core AMD.

What about dual-dualcore? Can CS3 take advantage of that? I saw in AE CS3 last night that it had a "multiprocessor" option to render frames simultaneously.

We'll be switching to Intel at some point, but we needed something to get the thing CS3 qualified and the AMD64x2 we have was on sale.
