Premiere CC - can the timeline tracks work like the old versions?

I'm a recent convert to CC, from CS5, and I can't get the video and audio tracks to behave like I've been used to for ages.

I'm used to seeing the video and audio with the horizontal line I can place keyframes - for example for opacity and volume, and by using the track keyframe button twice, with a small gap in time, I can then just drag one down to create fade ins - this is simple, and how I have always worked. Now, I can't seem to get the track to display the rubber band I'd place the keyframes on, and inserting a keyframe doesn't seem to do it. I can do it via the effects control box - but how do I switch the timeline clip to display opacity and volume as default?

I have got used to the new zoom control, but some quite basic things seem different, and I can't navigate through the menus to get things how I like them. .

If I recall there is a tiny tab Fx on the track itself. Click or right click will bring up a list that will let you see opacity effects etc etc. The rubber band for that attribute that you select will then be visible. It's quite easy to miss that fx icon on the track as it's quite small.

Hope this helps :)

Surinder.

Great - I'll go off and have a look for it! Other things seem to be better - Lots of my stuff need left and right audio tracks split into separate ones and there are now new option on how to process these, which is good. I rather hoped that they'd include a normalisation feature for the audio tracks, but no luck yet!

Isnt there "Normalise" in the Mixer Effects? (just never looked for it or noticed it myself)

Each Mixer Track can have any number of FX applied to them.

When you mention a mixer track - is this a new feature I've not come across before? Is there some way of inserting effects into the mixer window? In terms of the usual effects window, there's no normalisation effect I can find?

The Audio Mixer has a twirl down that allows one to apply (multiple) Audio FX to each track individually. The Twirl Down "thingy" is at the top of latest versions of Premiere and at the bottom on earlier ones ( slightly hidden requiring a scroll down to find it)

Thanks guys! For years I have seen the little arrow, never clicked it, and just assumed (stupidly) that like the similar ones in other windows, it just expanded the things you could already see - I now see loads of the AU plug-ins, and the right click option again revealed things I just didn't know were there - I assumed, again, that they were just the same effects and treatments shown in the usual effects box you drag to tracks - so that's where I expected normalise to be! I started using Premiere on the old version 6, installed from floppy disks - I wonder how long I've not noticed for?

Cheers!

There is no Normalise in the FX... so best way would be select all Clips >Right Click>Audio Gain>Normalise.
