Premiere can't do 3:2 pulldown can it?

Well, it says it has it, but when I look the 24p footage through frame-by-frame on Premiere, it has 3 frames and then one repeating frame. Sometimes the interlacing shows through just slightly also. :/

Well I am going to take a wild stab in the dark at this but, do you mean 2:3 pulldown or 2:3:3:2 pulldown?

Anyway if your shooting in 24p use a 60i timeline for smoothest motion or/

If your shooting in 24p advanced you get the best result with the 2:3:3:2 pulldown. Open ppro, (I assume ur using pro 1.5 here) click new project and the following box appears select the most suitable Panasonic 24 p setting from the menu... all use 2:3:3:2 pulldown.

it can (is supposed to.. and worksd fine for me) do 2:3 or 2:3:3:2 normal or advanced pulldown. the big mistake that mot people make is NOT using scene detection when capturing. PPRO applies ONE pulldown per clip that you import. when shooting from one clip tp antoher . the pulldown cadance always starts over in the camera.. so lets say you going 2:3:2:3:2:3:2 and then stop shooting. when you start shooting again it will start off 2:3:2:3: so if you capture those 2 clips together your cadance is going to go 2:3:2:3:2:3: 2:2: 3:2:3 notice you have it messed up where the new clip starts.. that means when PPRO looks at the first few frames of the entire clip it will apply the proper pulldown acressed the entire clip but it wont work right since it is thrown off from clip tp clip. in 2:3 youll get lucky and it might line up now and then again .. its a 50% chance. but in 2:3:3:2 its likely not going to line up again. it wil get off once, and then just get further off from there.

so you MUST ABSOLUTELY USE SCENE DETECTION WHEN CAPTURING to use 24P in PPRO. that will break each shot out into its own clip and the pulldown willl be applied to each clip correctly absed off the cadance for each clip to be applied throughout each clip which of course remains the same. scene detectio also allwos you to delete all the bad takes off your machine from taking up room on the drive. i use it whether using 24p or not.

oooh, that's a problem; I use firestore to capture, I don't have time to do it at home. I just plug in my camera to firestore while I'm at work(or whatever I'm doing) and leave it run until the tape is over

hey I was thinking this might work. I use Firestore to capture tapes; meaning I just plug the camera into the device after I'm done filming and let it go.
I was thinking, If I arranged all my clips in premiere using a 29.97fps timecode, then I used Project Manager to trim the files to a new location, would that allow me to fix the cadance of the 3:2 processing again?

maybe.. i would say yes but until you try it theres no way to know .. thers still variables in what your intended workflow is that could make it work or not.
