Premiere Audio HELP!

I have some clips that I would like to use, but the audio needs fixing. I filmed a wedding a while back and I was using a pretty good mic (the AT4073a...thanks MattinSTL!) and placed the people away from the reception to record their well-wishes.

Problem is, the camera and the mic were very new to me. So, I picked up their voices fine, but there is a distracting bit of background noise from the festivities. This background noise is really competing with their well-wishes.

If anyone has any advice as to how to best cut out the background noise, with filters, which Audio Effects, including settings, I would REALLY appreciate it.

I plan to EXPORT a clip to post by using the ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER but for some Godforsaken reason, Premiere in all its bugginess glory keeps giving me the UNKNOWN ERROR pop up window when I try to do so. So, I will keep trying. But, in the meantime, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everybody!
Rick

If you have adobe Audition you can attempt to create a noise profile for the background audience, however it will be less than perfect, and you'll find youself cutting out the audio for the "background noise" as well. But it could lower the levels of the other voices.

Also the histogram editor in Audition could help you isolate the noise (if it appears in a band to mudge over, but You wont find any type of plugins built into premiere Pro natively to handle what you are asking for.

Try the EQ effect in Premiere. Voices are usually in the 2000-5000hz range if I remember correctly. Lower the mid, low and (very) high ranges while leaving the 2000-5000 range intact.
