My boss wants to buy the Panasonic HVX200, can Premiere Pro 1.5 edit footage from this camera? I am assuming so, I already have Aspect HD and am editing from our Sony HD cam. Any Premiere editors out there dealing with footage from this camera?

No HD support for the HVX200 in PPro at the moment. There's always DV but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for.

The HVX uses different codecs (DVCPRO HD) for compressing the HD than your Sony does (HDV). PPro 1.5.1 added support for HDV. I don't have Aspect HD but I don't think it has DVCPRO HD support either; at least not yet.

I and many others have high expectations that Adobe is about to announce PPro 2.0 very soon and it will contain support for the HVX. However, that's only a rumor and/or wishful thinking at this point. Not something you want to plan your business on just yet.

Thanks Dan,

I'll be watching for PPro 2.0 very carefully. Would be great to get my hands on this camera.
