When editing in ppro 1.5 I have all my settings correct for the ana lense, and the output is fine.

When I export a frame it loses the 1.2 aspect ratio like the picture below... have I missed something? I export a frame edit and when I try to put it back obviously the aspect ratio has fallen off. (this is a straight grab with no cc)

make sure your exported vid has a 1.2 pixel aspect in hte export settings. windows media player doesnt always work well with aspect ratios so dont expect that to be right.. if you export to DVD or WM9 as long as you encode at a 1.2 pixel aspect it wil be fine. ..but in AVI form WM player gets stupid sometimes.

OK thats what I thought but not working... see below

Premiere pro export frame settings, along side you can see the image as displayed in ppro... no problem. Maybe something screwy ? reinstall ppro?

ncje, if you click on the source file in the Project Window and look at the text to the right of the little preview window, what does it "say" about the PAR?

Yes! The PAR is 1.2 so that was not the problem. Sometimes Premiere Pro flags clips with the wrong PAR and can cause the trouble you describe. But that was not the case here. :)

..again, the output isnt wrong.. its likley just the program you using to display the output doesnt understand to display it at a 1.2 pixel aspect.. so the question is what program are you using to view the file outside of PPRO once it is output at a 1.2 pixel aspect? if you reimport the file into PPRO it shoudl still have a 1.2 PAR and display fine. but if you play it back in a program that doesnt work well with or screws up PAR it will likely be .9 or square PAR.

Im using photoshop 7. I did notice that even though the dimensions are wrong I can re import edited frame back into p pro and then click interpret footage and change back to correct PAR. However I am concerned there maybe some resolution loss?

the pixels are not changed by changing the PAR.. they are only dislplayed differently.. from .9 to 1 to 1.2 times thier width for display only.. it doesnt change any actual pixel information .. in PS CS you can designate a viewing PAR as well..

the reason your grabs are coming out squeshed is becasue the pixels on a computer montor are square or 1.0 you have to export your grabs using 1.0 which will give you black bars on top and bottom. if you dont want teh bars you can export using a 720 x 405 resolution instead of 720x480

Thats great thanks Neil, I dont mind editing squished images. SO I can move forward now. Thanks for your responses all.

Thanks for the input, but that would cause me to lose res.
