premiere 6.5 crashing all the time

Everytime i'm editing, usually after moving a lot of clips between bins etc premiere 6.5 continuously crashes on me, with the same error message as always "an error has occured and premiere needs to close". I've basically gotten into the habit of saving every single time i change something due to this shity product. It's not an if scenario, it's a guarantee, and then it takes like 3 minutes to re-boot the farking project cuz it's so massive. Premiere sucks, but in the mean time until i can get some free programs it' will have to do. I look forward to the day when i can take a bat to my current computer and smash the crap out of it, and then buy a mac. This is an absolute pain in the ass and is at the very least doubling the amount of time that it will take to edit this project.

I know that error message well . . . I finally just had to buy a whole new dedicated machine to run Premiere on. It really didn't like my USB digital audio interface on my other machine. But even when I uninstalled the device, Premiere broke so badly, I had to wipe the disk using fdisk from an old Windows98 CD (WindowsXP doesn't come with fdisk anymore) and reinstall Windows. I am moving to Vegas soon (unless I just throw all my PCs away and go Apple).

I had no problems with 6.5 on Windows XP and NTFS file system. When I installed SP2 I did a reinstall 6,5 and DV500.

You must have been one of the lucky ones. I had a dedicated, purpose built box for Premiere 6.5/DV 500 and it used to give me those same messages all the time on longer projects (anything over, say, 15 minutes).

Luckily I was able to escape to FCP and the Apple about 3 years ago. I know PP is more stabe than 6.5 was, but I'm happy with FCP and probalby won't go back to Premiere on the Mac.
