Guys and Gals -

I seem to be having a problem with Premiere 6.0. Here is my dilema, this weekend I just captured some video on my Cannon Elura60 (ntsc). I captured my video in 320x240 this time cause at 160x120 the vid comes out wacked. When I try to upload my vids to the my hardrive it shows up black. I can hear sound but not video.. Here is an example...

Just to let you know, I edited a movie last week with no problem...This is new and just started happening..
Do you guys think there is a problem with my cam or is it some sort of configuration in Windows of some sort?

have you tried playing the clips in a different player.. and wh yarent you capturing full resolution 720x480? what codec are you using to capture?

Thanks for replying IAM, I was losing hope.

I have a Canon Elura60

I doesn't go over 320x240 on my settings. As you asked me what other players does it play in, I checked Quicktime and It actually plays there..!! (Thanks IAM) however.. It wont play on WMP or RP...

Ever seen this before?

P.S.. Im using Moran M-JPEG codec V3

so its an MPG cam? ..sounds like the codec may not be compatable with PPRO. if it is, double check your project settings and be sure all is well there. specifically the editing codec choice.

This cam exports in AVI not Mpeg...

I've had this cam since January and Windows media player opens up all I capture with it. Lately, The only change i've made is changing the setting from 160x120 back to what I had it originally at 320x240. Now that i've done that im having this problem..

I went out and got Premiere Pro but I seem to be having the same problem. I even get unsupported compression in file now when i try to import vids from my Canon. I did a google search to find out about this error and everyone who's had it couldn't get a good answer back, Other than having them change the extension name..

is that even a DV camera? .. if it is you should use the microsoft DV/AVI codec at 720 x480.. your definitely having some sort of unsupported codec errors. .. i need to check up on the cam your using to figure out this 320x240 stuff first and all and then see what i can tell ya. let me surf for cam info here...

..ok yes its a DV camera.. you need to capture to and edit with the microsoft DV/AVI codec at NTSC (29.976fps) at a standard frame size of 720x480 ..try that and well go from there. :)

IAM... I have it on Default settings..

I associated those files from earlier to .mov now. But this is what happens when I try to import them in Pro..

Bumping this old thread.

I've got the same problem.

I've got some clips taken from a camera a friend owns, outputs an AVI file which is what I'm normally dealing with.....but getting the "Unsupported compression in file" error message.

The only thing I can find that's different is the pixel aspect ratio. It's in 640 x 480.

Anyone with some insight these days?

Thanks
