Premiere 5.5 set up question

I’ve just loaded Premiere Pro 5.5 and opened it, and selected New Project. There is a window, and at the bottom is Location. It wants to choose my start up HD, but I don’t know what it intends to store there. Small files may not be a problem, but is it better to instead choose a location on an attached 12TB RAID? I will use the 12TB RAID for the scratch disk, and it is where the video files are stored.

Thanks,

Bill

Select any fast local drive except your boot drive.

I have a drive specifically for PROJECTS and others for Video, graphics , audio. Separating data is the way to go.

Premiere likes to save things like project & preview files in various locations in \user\
I find it gets confusing relocating these files, which don't really need speed.

Go with the RAID array for your media files, using Project > Project Settings > Scratch disks
