Premiere 5.5 projects compatibility issue in CC

Hello,

All the projects I edited on 5.5 have an issue when I open them in CC. Parts of the sequence that have more than 1 layer often do not get exported properly. The footage flickers, blinking between the top layer that we are only supposed to see, and the bottom layer.

It doesn't happen all the time, but often enough. I'm not sure why. Does anyone know?

I'm on Mac. 10.9.

I found a work around. If I export in .mov Animation codec, then it's fine. I just have to re-import the huge file and re-export it in something compressed.

Is this a well known issue though?

My workaround isn't a work around at all. The problem seems random, with 90% chance of the problem surfacing.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

You might want to clean out any cache or render files. In general it's a decent solution for random playback issues as Adobe can pull the wrong cached files sometimes.

I think so... I ended up just arrange the very same layers back onto a new master sequence, re-nest, and it seems fine now...

Update: my workaround doesn't work... it went back to being problematic and it's like the more I mess with it the worse it gets... *facepalm*

Hi Chromeboy007,
You may want to avoid certain codecs if you updated to OS X 10.9. The Animation codec is one of those that are not supported. See this forum post: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/71/863688#863714

Hmm.... I generally shoot in AVCHD and export in H264.
