Premier Pro Render Selected Clips

I know that you can set a work area within Premier Pro and render just that area, but is there a way to select a clip, or lasso two or three clips and have it render those clips without having to reset the work area?

In FCP I can select a single clip (or lasso several clips) which is one mouse move/click followed by CMD+R (one key press with modifier key) and it renders that section.

In PPro (as far as I can tell) I need to

1) move the CTI to the start (mouse click & drag)
2) press ALT+[ to start the start of the work area
3) move the CTI to the end (2nd mouse click and drag)
4) press ALT+] to set the end of the work area
5) Hit ENTER to render.

So that two mouse moves and three key presses (not counting the modifier keys), so I am hoping there is an easier way in PPro that I some how missed....?

Just another item in the long list of simple actions that Premiere require needless steps to complete. For all this program has going for it, it still has a long way to go before the actual editing process is as streamlined as it needs to be. I never knew how well made Final Cut really was until I was forced to change NLEs. The only thing that makes me angrier than editing on Premiere is Apple forcing me to switch to it.

Eh, I can say the reverse about the Mac operating system. Having had to use a Mac recently for about a week, simple things like copying, moving or deleting files, ejecting a DVD form a drive that had no eject button (WTF???), or looking for the menu in VLC were incredibly frustrating for me simply because those things are done differently (and in my view, in a much less intuitive way) on a Mac than on a PC. If Steve Jobs had been in my presence that week, I'd probably be in prison today for murder.

We get used to the fiobles of our chosen system, and we complain about the fiobles of our new system. It's a fact of life that will never go away.

Jim, every Mac keyboard has an eject button, you just need to be shown where it is. Change isnt easy. But I'm sure your a full blown pro these days, since April.
