premier pro freezing during hdv playback *PLEASE HELP ME*

hi guys my permier pro 2.0 is freezing during HDV playback, i capture from my hv20 hdv cam using hdvsplit, import the files into pp2.0 and can put them on the time line no problems , but when i try to play them back after a few secs it freezes...

fresh install of windows xp pro
fresh install of pp2.0
instaled hdv split

still getting freezing issue during hdv playback...

comp specs:

ABIT KN9S mother board
amd 64 x2 dual core 3800+
2 gig RAM
512MB nivida gefore 5300 GT
1 x 250GB hd
1 x 80GB hd
dvd burner

please help me.... what could be causing this problem

I don't know Marty, your computer specs are simliar to mine. Is the whole computer freezing or just Premiere?

Possibly the video card driver. Try and see if you can download a new one from nVidia.

thanks for the replies guys, it turns out ot was faulty RAM.... i pulled out one of the 1GB sticks and prem pro 2.0 ran fine with HDV captured from hdvslpit... i imported the clips, edited, frameserved and exported... worked fine... (only quite sluggish since on only on 1 GB of ram now ) i'm returning the ram for a new one next week so i should be back to 2GB soon.
