Premier good for HVX??

Does Premier do all the things you need of it with the HVX? Is the workflow simple? I am looking for the best editing package for use with my HVX pc or apple? I have been having problems getting the camera to work with my PC apps and looking into Apple as a solution?? Please advise.

Thanks

Premiere by itself doesn't work with the HVX at all. You'd need an additional program such as Raylight, Cineform, or Serious Magic DVCPRO-HD Decoder to make Premiere compatible with the HVX.

If you're on the PC, look at Canopus EDIUS Broadcast instead. It's brilliantly integrated with the P2 system.

Rarely do I suggest anything different from Barry, but as this format war proceeds between P2, HD and HDV I believe it is best to look at the production workflow in terms of acquisition, post production and delivery.

If you think of it in these terms then I believe FCP and Adobe are much better choices. If what's important to you is simply compatibility with the camera then Edius might be a good choice.

I recently completed a project where I had D5 HD, Sony FX1, Canon XL-1H and JVC JY-100 footage, all of it brought into a Cineform Digital Intermediate for post and then Adobe's integration with AE, Photoshop, Illustrator really made the project manageable.
