Prem CS3 Layered PSD Crash

import PSD's into premerie all the time, but from CS3 the stablity has been rocky as, the project wont even load if i have imported a layered PSD it just locks when its loading, this happens on FOUR different workstations

what dimensional pixel size and file size is the .psd ..also what color space and bit depth?

it crashes on heaps of different modes, i was using an oversized project, 1700x1152 square pixels RGB 8bit, but my work mate same symptoms was subtitling at 720x576 par 1.067 RGB 8bit so wierd projects freezing just before they load on the progress bar
