Preferred Edit Sequence For Old Film

I am a new user of VMS 10. I just digitized some old 1950s 8 mm film and am now working on the files in VMS 10 to try an enhance the images. The film was over 50-years old when digitized and the images are now very dark (muddy looking) and have lost a lot of the color.

Seems like I heard somewhere that the editing sequence can have a big impact on the looks of the final product. I have generally been applying editing effects in the following order; 1) levels, 2) white balance; 3) brightness/contrast; 4) color adjustment & saturation tools; 5 sharpen.

Is this a pretty reasonable order of editing to clean-up the images from this old film?

I will have to figure out how to take a snapshot of a video frame and then how to post it to this forum.

not familiar with vegas, but since your on windows operating system

1- windows 7: start->all programs->accessories->snipping tool

2- any windows version: press the print screen button on the keyboard, then go to "Microsoft paint" usually in accessories or near the end of the start menu-> all programs.

Seems reasonable, if those are the appropriate FX.
