All across this user group, the members sing the praises of three or four hardware stores , but no one has mentioned much about software. Where is the short list of good places to buy software. I am looking for the Vegas 6 DVD bundle.

I got my DVX about 2 months ago. The only problem I have is keeping people from drooling on it. I need a rain cover.

OK, you'll love this one.

I just recently bought Vegas 6 + DVD. I looked around by doing searches on the net beforehand of course. I also asked around, and an editor Friend of mine told me I might as well get it direct from Sony, which I did. It cost 719.95, for the boxed version. My personal preference is to always buy the physical CD version of software, just because the download version is just that, and if anything ever goes wrong, you at least have a piece of plastic that Sony made to back it up, not just a CD of the file you burned. Usually, you get manuals too, but not in this case. You only get the "getting Started Manuals" which are not near the 400+ page User's Manual, but I print it out and have it bound at Kinko's for 5.00. (plus of course the paper and ink on your printer. It get my cartridges at:

They have the best prices I have ever seen. Anyway, I digress.

So, now I am shopping around for Sound Forge 8, and for some reason I get to the site for DigiTraxx. Looking through the prices, they had a sale on, and I could get Sound Forge, full version, not educational, or 229.95 with free shipping! The Sony price is 319.95, so I am wondering how this is possible? To check it out, I look on the site for Vegas 6 + DVD and almost fell on the floor. They had it for over 250.00 LESS than what I paid for it direct from Sony !!!

I called Sony to see if this was possible. Thinking it was some sort of fly by night op, or any reason they could give me...
But I was told that it IS INDEED POSSIBLE ! For example, DigiTraxx may have bought quite a few copies, or, they negotiated a deal with Sony for discounts based on other equipment they buy from Sony, etc. And Sony allows dealers to charge what they want....so...

Needless to say, I could have had both packages for what I paid for one. The catch here is that my package has not arrived with Sound Forge yet, so this story is unfinished. I did get confirmation that I purchased version 8, in the box, and not an educational version, so we will see. At that price, I am expecting to open it up and see Version 7 to be honest, but they say it IS VERSION 8 full.
Currently they have Vegas + DVD for 579.00 and Sound Forge 8 at 229.95 it believe.

Once again, buyer beware. Caveat Emptor... Here is the link...

Ooops, forgot this

AND...

Sound Forge 8 comes with CD Archiitect 5.2 AND FREE Noise reduction! They say that alone is 299.00, but they always quote FULL RETAIL pricing.
However, all round, it's a good deal IMHO.

Take care

After looking at resellerratings.com for Digitraxx, I don't exactly have the warm and fuzzy about them..... It took me 2 months to muster the cajones to order my camera online.
OT: Full Compass treated me well. In stock, 3 days shipping, live persons, good price. .....
