I constantly feel like I'm ccing to extreme. I really haven't a clue what I'm doing when it comes down to it. I've read every scrap I can find about CCing, but I still don't get the basics. Maybe I'm trying to hard? Or maybe it's the crap lighting/bad camera placement (the right side of the frame looks really empty) Something just doesn't look pleasing about it IMO.

(used AAV6CC and Color Curves)

As with most CC questions, it helps to know what you're trying to accomplish. What's wrong with the result you're getting? What don't you like about it? What SHOULD it be that it's not?

David's got a point about needing to know what you're going for. That said, the before looks flat.

I just want the actors to stand out, and not have it look flat. I like alot of contrast. However, when I try to get rid of colors that make it "video-y" like yellow or bright reds. It may as well be in black and white. I like the after, but I feel it could be alot better.

you should be using a good NTSC monitor when CCing and not a computer screen. Also learn how to use the vector and waveform monitors when CCing.
