PPro1.5 and 16:9

OK, I have a problem exporting my 24p 16:9 movie to a wmv or whatever.

All of the project and export settings say 16:9 DV etc. but the export has tweaked my ratio so that my moon shot is egg-shaped. Any idea what happened?

[Sorry, the pic from a CRT.]

I used the Adobe encoder and Procoder and got the same result.

Help!!!

I've had similar problems with 4:3 footage going from Premier to WM and Flash and the problem was due to the fact that DV pixels are rectangular, whereas computer pixels are square. I don't know if this is your problem, but what I would try to do is export as an .avi from Premiere, then use a standalone encoder such as WM9 or Sorenson, and then in the options tab, enter the final dimensions you want (ie some multiple of 16:9 in pixels), and then deselect maintain aspect ratio (that's the important part). e.g. - standard 4:3 you would use 320x240.

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but it maybe related.

All the best,

Michael

you just need to make sure that you specify a 1.2 pixel aspect on output in the adobe windows media encoder... the same as should be used when editing.. THATS ALL.

in the encoder if you click on theeither the "video" or "audiences" tab you can specify pixel aspect for the video. ..select 1.2

i've output plenty of anamorphic stuff through the encoder and thats really all there is to it. it doesn matter what the PAR (pixel aspect ratio) of the PPRO project is.. just be sure you output it with the right PAR.
