PP2 Pulldown question

Hi, I know this has been covered somewhat but I have specific problems ,, plzz help

I shoot 24 fps, Pan dvx100b NTSC, to capture in Premiere pro 2.0 at the start of a new project there are two selections for 24p footage @48kHz.

1 DV-24P - which states is for 24p and 24p advanced
the custom tab lists two interesting items
a TIMEBASE of 23.976
FIELDS says NO FIELDS-progressive scan
DISPLAY FORMAT is 24fps

2 DV-NTSC - described as 'for IEEE 1394 DV equipment
custom tab list items as
TIMEBASE 29.97
FILDS lower field first
Disp. Format is now 30fps Drop frame timecode ( with option to go 30 fps non-drop frame )

I started to go with the first because in my minds eye I felt 'it is specifically for 24p, and that's what I just shot'
But I'm not so sure that I'm right. Please help me make the right choices here given the CAM and 24fps scene setting. And what to change these to when shooting 60i on this CAM

thnx in advance

A good rule to follow is... if you shot 24p advanced, edit in a 23.976 timeline using Premiere's 24p preset. If you shot 24p normal, edit in a 29.97 timeline using Premiere's DV-NTSC preset.
Having said that, you can edit 24p normal in a 23.976 timeline, Premiere 2.0 does remove the pulldown properly, just not as cleanly as 24p advanced. It still works and will look fine. You can also edit 24p advanced in a 29.97 timeline, but the motion is not as smooth as it is with 24p normal footage, but it's still acceptable.
If you were shooting interlaced (60i), you would use the DV preset. If you wanted to mix 24p and 60i in the same timeline, you would use the DV preset.

Thanks Kevin. I was really stumped here.

I got such crappy look n feel from the start then started clicking options trying fix it to no avail.

See,,, the dang ap, when in the options for the 24p, clearly states it's 24 and 24 advanced so I went with it but the footage had all combed edges and lots of blurr...

'' The hammer was inches away '' then I thought ... broken gear don't sell well,

Thnx again
