PP2: First capture must be done as Admin?

While trying to find a solution for my capture window hanging/crashing, I came across http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting . They say that in order for Premiere to set privileged registry entries, your first capture must be done while logged on as the Administrator. This is a first to me, and I had never done this. Since the fine folks at the Adobe forums had convinced me that doing a fresh XP install would solve my problems (it didn't), I'm wondering if there is any truth to this. How many of you users have done this?

i only have one user on my edit machine and of course its the admin. i never had any problems capturing, but now since the HVX i dont really capture anymore unless im working with someones DV tapes. never heard of any issues with it from anyone though.

I never had any issues before either. But, they are popping up left and right now and I'm getting desperate. Thank God for MovieMaker!

never heared anyone say that before, i've never had any problem's with capturing in PP2, the only thing i can say is that i found out that even though i thought my PC only had one user account there are actually like 5 of the things that you cant see normaly. i can't remember how exactly you get to them but i think you need to use MSConfig to get it to allow you to log in as proper ADMIN rather than just a user with all privilages.

Also on a cheeky note. i downloaded a versoin of XP the otherday that someone has hacked down to 230MB. they basicly cut out all the stuff you don't need for video editing and any normal use. Its pretty fast in comparison to XP normaly, and i've got a legitimate version of XP Pro that i normaly use and no amoutn of my own optimisations have ever made it that fast.
