PP to Resolve roundtrip workflow- quality loss if exporting twice?

Hi everyone!
Ok, so that's what I want to do. Cut 4K XAVC-I footage (from fs7) in PP then export in... export in what to not lose any quality? I want to grade it in Resolve but instead of sending XML file and work on original footage I want to export just one file and then use xml for scene detection. After grading I will export it in h.264 but was wondering what to use in between. Will ProRes 422 HQ preserve all the information?
Thanks for help!

Will greatly appreciate some suggestions for other solutions as well. Just to avoid utilising original footage. Thanks!

I have had Prores HQ files color corrected before and they hold up very well. If you were shooting RAW you are obviously going to lose some quality but the FS7 is a high DR camera with a good color space, no?

I don't have an answer to your question, but what's your aversion to using the original footage? Resolve isn't destructive, is it?

You should be able to export an AAF or XML from PP that will reference the original media for Resolve to connect to. PP is not always the best when exporting AAF or XML, so you should probably test and expect some teething pains. It's usually preferable to go back to the original media when you can, and this option will do that. That makes it easy for Resolve to copy grades to matching shots and you skip a generation of loss.

Or you can export in a low loss codec like ProRes or DNxHD at a high bit rate, or a low loss TIFF, DPX or EXR image sequence with deep color depth. Then you'll need to rely on Resolve's ability to cut the show into individual shots, or notch an EDL. Then you don't need to rely on the interchange between programs to reassemble your timeline correctly.

What's your final deliverable? How fast do you need to turn it around? What's your budget for the color grade? Those are the real defining factors.
