So I am trying to use FCP (start to anyways) I have always used Vegas or Premiere, but now that I am moving mac I need help with a machine.

I have found a PowerMac Dual Core 2.0GHz Dual Core (liquid cooling) with 8GB of RAM for $2500, is that good? And will it be able to edit HDV? What are the minimum requirements for HDV?

It will be able to edit HDV. The price looks high to me. I'm probably going to sell my G5, and I planned to price it lower.

I think the price is high too. And the model is not clear :
Power mac -> G5
Mac pro -> Intel

Dual -> G5
Dual CORE -> Intel

None of the intel are liquid cooled
And I think the G5 2.0 aren't liquid cooled (what is better !)

Think Final cut Studio 2 ! if you can, go Mac pro with 2 Gig of ram and update later !

A dual G5 2.0 for $2500 is pretty expensive, you should shop around. Brand New Mac Pros start at $2500 and they are quads, (2X dual core). There are G5 quads that use dual core processors but a 2.0 GHZ you have to be referring to a dual proc, not dual core.

OK, I've been hearing that it was too expensive. Also will the Mac Pro with 2GB of ram be able to handle HDV nicely? Or will an iMac with 2GB of RAM be able to handle HDV also?

8 gigs of RAM can add up. I don't know, sounds like it might be a little too much but not by much. $1200-1500 for the machine and $700-1000 for the RAM.

I heard that Apple charges WAY too much for RAM and that the machine ($2500) is way too overpriced.

So I plan on gettin a Mac Pro with 1GB and then upgrading...
