I thought I would share an idea that maybe can be used for powering 35mm adaptors, specially SGpro from Sony and Canon LanC ports.
Back in the day we designed adaptors that were powered from LanC and that was for vibrating pancake motors rated up to 3.5V so (a regulator pot and) a 2.5mm plug (might use additional 2.5mm port in Y configuration to maintain LanC connectivity) and a bit of wiring is all you need to get an adapter powered from your Sony or Canon prosumer camcorder.
And you'll always know when the batt will be low
...
Check the pinout from here and remember whatever you do it will be on your own risk, so any precautions and testing equipment would compliment your journey. Just match the voltage from LanC and the power requierments of the adapter with an appropriate resistor or potentiometer and when wired in-line it becomes your speed regulator too if you don't overpower the adaptor motor of course but that will be highly unlikely as the voltage from the LanC port doesn't have the amps to do it.
Wayne, do you hear me? Might be nice to get this option in one of the SG packages (with that Y conf cable to maintain regular LanC connectivity of course, if it will work with an adapter connected as I don't know the amp requirement of the SG)
For DIY people, the nicest looking spiral cables are "available" (can be salvaged) from discontinued mobile (cell) phone car chargers. One can buy those in bulk, hint-hint, for as low as $0.50 per piece and you'll get that P+S look.
Cheers,
T
