Powering Kino's on Standard plugs

I was wondering how you would power Kinoflos (standard 4bank and 2bank type) off standard edison plugs. I was reading their operating manual from the site and it look like the cable coming out of the ballast is joy cable or whatever that might be.

The ballast has an edison plug on it which allows you to plug into any old plug.

Yes.. the kinos actually have a funny looking plug you may be seeing.. that plug goes into the ballast and the ballast has a normal 120v plug like scott says. You can plug in upto 4 banks in 1 standard 15amp breaker with out any problems, as they are very efficent.

Cool guys...got it explained to me again today. I think what i was seeing was the head cable (from ballast to light)..that's awesome that I can power it from household plugs.

On another note what do 400HMI Pocket Pars have? Standard as well? I read somewhere you need to ground HMI lights when using them...what would that entail?

In general up to what point/model # do lights work off of standards plugs (tungstens, HMI's, fluro's, etc)

Thanks.

Normal edison plug with a ground to power the pocket pars ballast.

Re: Powering Kino's on Standard plugs

yeah... I actuall have seen some electrics (those are the lighting dudes on sets) actually drive a stake into the ground to ground the larger HMI's and Gennys.. but its total overkill. pocket pars and low k HMI's all can be grounded normally, through the socket.
