As most of us know, the p2 cards are very expensive. Having a portable battery powered firewire hard drive is exactly what you need for offloading p2 media to hard drives. there are very few of these, but all it is is a hard drive case thats battery powered and [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You can purchase and install any 9.5mm/ 2.5 inch laptop hd 10G, 20G, 30G, 40G, and the new IBM 80G Travelstar laptop hard disk drives. You can find this item at http://www.firewiregear.net/productdetails1.cfm?sku=AMS25K&cats=
For only $78 then purshase a cheap hard drive and whala. you could go the ipod route, but at usb it will take a lot longer and its more expensive. for about $ 200 you could be transferring p2 files to hd. The Hvx200 basically formats the drive as a p2 card so it pops up on your computer the same way a normal p2 card would. The only thing before is purchase a p2 card, then your set, unless you would rather transfer to a laptop. Obviously you could purshase the FS-100 which cancels out the p2 card permanently and records the video from the camera directly at the sime time, but its $2000. Now, some people need continous recording without waiting for transfers, but I can spare about 1.5 minutes per gb( depending on how fast your hd is/ eg. 7200, 5400). so I hope this article helps you, but I know i'll be using the external HD. Thanks.:shocked::shocked::shocked::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:
