power?

Has anyone ever used a portable generator on your set when lighting, monitors, etc....were needed, and there was no power available. For instance in the woods? If so, what brand did you use & where's the best place to pick one up?

Thanks.

Problem is sound coming form gas powered generators. If you use extension cords, make sure they are rated for the length & load.
Concensus seems to bury the generator a little, and use dirt mounds around generator.

BEST/easiest might be though to use batteries and inverter combinations.

True...The film I'm doing is visual, lot's of music and sound effects...At least the stuff where a generator would be present...

Hey, if you are okay with a noisy generator, you should be fine.
HomeDepot (type stors) have a good, and inexpensive selection.

Just add your gear's wattage requirements up, and size the generator accordingly. You could also rent this though from a lighting outfit.

Again, be careful of not running skinny cable for too far, something one tends to want to do when running of a gen set! :)
