Hi, I have a tascam dr-40 and I usually power it with my laptop's usb port or my smart tvs usb port and it works just fine. The tascam dr-40 has usb-bus power feature.

I want to know, can i a buy a portable mobile charger the one that people normally use to charge their smartphones, like the ones which are available in 5200mah and 10400 mah capacities, can I use these to power my tascam recorder?

Will it have any effect or they will be just fine??

Some chargers output at 1.0 A and while others output at 1.5 A or 2.0 A , will this be an issue ? Which Ampere rating should i prefer??

I am about to try some of them at local electronics store but I just want to sure if I need to be careful with their ratings and whether they will be fine to use. My tascam is out of warranty so i cannot take any risks :P

All inputs welcome. Thank you!!!

The Tascam DR-40 power consumption is rated 1.7W maximum, which, for 5V, means 0.34A, or 340mA current consumption. So any charger of 0.5A and above should do.
