Power question about Varizoon monitor

Really, really stupid question, but never used an on-camera monitor, how do you power it if you don't use a battery. Looking at the Varizoom, either 5 inch or 7 inch, and they have DC power supply, but is there some outlet on the camera to plut it into or what? And, if I use battery, anyone know how long battery lasts?

Sorry so long to respond. I originally read this post the day you made it, but was surfing on my phone and didnt want to #pad in a response, then forgot about the thread.

I have the 7". There is a power supply plug that you can plug either the battery into or a wall adapter. (I dont dont which wall adapter.) The battery that comes with the kit, or that you buy seperately is actually a DigiPower DPS9000. The case of the battery is only slightly different than the Digipower branded battery and I would bet they are the same mAh. (Neither lists a mAh rating.) Well, now checking the Varizoom website, they list the battery's capacity as "15Wh", but since I'm retarded, I dont know how to translate that into the accepted mAh rating so I sit here dumbfounded.

The website also lists the battery as lasting "1.75 hours" for the 7". Here is some real world use from me. I've used it for some BTS footage where I had turned the monitor off and on , but always on while rolling, and often when not rolling and I've gotten 2 hours out of it easily. I shot some production footage last night - 45 minutes rolling, probably an additional 30 composing and fiddle-farting and at the end I pushed the "fuel gauge" button and I had only lost a single light out of 5 lights. I would have trusted that batt for another 30-60 minutes.

NOW. HERE'S the thing. Like I said. It is only a rebadged DigiPower DPS9000. I bought the 7" kit. Got a battery with it. I had 3 DPS9000s from years ago, figured I had tossed them/sold them with the digital cam I bought them for so searched out the DPS in stores. Couldn't find them. So I bought a second battery from Varizoom. $89. I then found my 3 DPSs. The DPS comes with wall charger, car charger, and a gang load of cables to connect the battery to various devices. I have since lost my gang load of cables. I just 2nd Dayed a new DPS from RitzCamera with all the cables and it came to $37 shipped. The good news? One of the cables nicely connects the DPS/Varizoom battery to the DVX and powers it. The DPS wont last as long as the Panny batt or DVXUser batt, but if you have the monitor, grab some extra batteries so you have plenty for monitor power, but you can also use the monitor batteries as DVX backup power.

I'm shooting tonight and I will start with a DPS connected to the cam and see how long it lasts. I'm guessing I'll get at least an hour or 2 and that is a nice little backup battery for $37. ($27 if you can wait longer than 2 days shipping.)
